It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmaaaas...

We went Christmas shopping today. It was an experience. The rules of the road were completely nonexistent. I almost got into a fight with a man at Toys 'R Us who hit me with his cart three times. But we were able to get most of the things on the boys' Christmas lists. So it was fantastic. I feel so blessed to be able to do that at this point in our lives.

Not to brag, but we make a living we can actually live on, have our own place, our cars are ours free and clear, we've never had to ask anyone for money. We do use credit from time to time, BUT we pay it off early and often in big chunks, and we're only doing that to improve my credit score. And, most importantly, we can afford to feed all four of us three square meals a day.

I try so hard not to take any of it for granted.

I really want to give something back to the community this year. I want to donate a few toys to a local shelter, sponsor a family who's having a tough time, or donate some cash to a local food bank. (They have so many more resources at their disposal and I know they could use the money much better than I could at the local grocery stores buying it myself.)

I don't really know what I want to do. I'll figure something out.

In the meantime, I'm going to go clean out my refrigerator. I have dip in there no one's cracked open in months, and I'm scared.

Amazing how I can go from humble to me-me-me in no time flat, isn't it?

  1. This time of year, I've always been a fan of Toys for Tots or go into any church and ask what charity they're supporting this year. I think it's great that you want to give back.
